Saudi-Led Coalition Downs Drone in Riyadh Region
The coalition confirmed the interception in a post on X but did not disclose additional information about the incident.
In a subsequent statement, the coalition said its forces had also destroyed the launcher used by Yemen's Houthi group to fire a ballistic missile toward Riyadh earlier Tuesday. The location of the launcher was not specified.
Earlier, coalition forces reported intercepting and destroying a ballistic missile launched toward the capital by the Houthis. The incident followed reports of explosions in Riyadh after authorities issued a security warning.
The developments come as hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement continue to intensify. The group has carried out missile and drone attacks against Saudi territory, while the Saudi-led coalition has conducted airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has headed a military coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government against the Houthis since 2015. The movement has maintained control over the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces since 2014.
