Attorney Samantha Yem Shares ‘Cambodia Forward’: A Message to the World

SK Law founder invites the international community to see Cambodia in full, affirming lasting trust is built through genuine reform and verifiable results

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Attorney Samantha Yem, founder and managing partner of SK Law Office, has issued a message to the international community she calls “Cambodia Forward” — an invitation, drawn from nearly two decades advising investors and entrepreneurs in the kingdom, to see her country in full and to share in its future.

“For nearly twenty years, I have encouraged international investors, entrepreneurs and friends to invest, establish businesses, live and participate in Cambodia’s development,” Yem said. “For me, this is more than professional work — it is part of my enduring mission to help build our nation.”

Throughout that time, she said, she has heard the same questions again and again: “What does Cambodia stand for today? Can it be trusted? Are investments protected? Are governance and transparency improving?”

Those questions deserve a direct answer, she said. “These questions should not be dismissed. Cambodia must answer them — with facts, consistent action and the courage to improve.” Her own answer, she said, is a simple one: “Cambodia is moving forward.”

She described the country as the heir to one of the world’s great civilizations. “Our ancient heritage is not merely a memory; it remains a living source of identity, resilience, creativity and strength,” she said. Cambodia, in her view, should no longer be known internationally only for Angkor Wat, tourism or the tragedies of its past. Today, she said, it is “a peaceful, youthful and increasingly connected kingdom where people, ideas and responsible investment can grow.”

That promise is captured in the phrase “Cambodia Forward” and its tagline, “Ancient Strength. New Possibilities.” The vision, she said, rests on six national pillars: “peace, stability and trust; living Khmer heritage; people and human potential; opportunity and enterprise; Cambodia’s role as a connected ASEAN gateway; and a sustainable and resilient future.”

She said that under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the country’s prime minister, the Royal Government had “undertaken important work to strengthen public institutions, develop human capital, expand infrastructure and technology, deepen international cooperation and intensify the national campaign against online scams and other threats to public confidence.” That progress, she said, “deserves fair international recognition.”

At the same time, she cautioned, recognition must be matched by substance. “Trust cannot be created through advertising alone,” Yem said. “It cannot be demanded or manufactured by slogans. It must be earned through measurable reform, consistent enforcement, transparency and verifiable results.” As she put it, “Communication cannot replace reform; it must make reform visible, understandable and credible.”

For that reason, she said, Cambodia should communicate its progress “through verified facts, measurable achievements and authentic human stories,” and should acknowledge and address legitimate concerns where they remain. “Confidence grows when a nation speaks honestly about both its achievements and the work that remains ahead,” she said.

To the international community, she offered a direct invitation: “I invite you to see Cambodia in full — not only our ancient temples, but also our modern ambitions; not only old narratives, but also emerging possibilities; not only our challenges, but also the Cambodian people working every day to overcome them.” She asked partners to “engage with us constructively,” to “invest with responsibility,” to share knowledge and ideas, and to “judge Cambodia fairly, based upon evidence and the direction in which our country is moving.”

She was clear, too, that the idea belongs to the country as a whole. “Cambodia Forward must belong to the Cambodian nation,” Yem said, “not to one ministry, company, political party or term of government.” The “Kingdom of Wonder” identity can remain Cambodia’s tourism signature, she said, while “Cambodia Forward” becomes “our broader and enduring national promise” — in time, she added, “Cambodia’s own expression of shared aspiration, recognizable and lasting like the American Dream, while remaining proudly and unmistakably Khmer.”

She closed with the words at the heart of the vision, addressed as much to Cambodians as to the world beyond its borders. “Our ancient heritage gives us strength. Peace gives us our foundation. Our young people give us hope. Our connections give us reach,” she said. “Our commitment to reform will determine the trust we earn. Cambodia is ready to move forward — and we invite the world to move forward with us.”
