Kuwait Airways Suspends Flights After Iranian Drone Strike Disrupts Airport Operations
In a statement cited by local media, the national carrier said the decision was taken due to “current circumstances” and in coordination with Kuwait’s civil aviation authorities. The airline added that affected flights will be rescheduled, and passengers will be informed of new timings through their booking contact details.
The suspension comes after Kuwaiti authorities halted and diverted flights at the airport following what officials described as a drone strike that caused damage and injuries at the facility. According to reports, emergency measures were implemented immediately to secure operations and assess the extent of the disruption.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the attacks were carried out in response to a US strike on a communications site on Qeshm Island earlier in the day. The IRGC also indicated that US-linked positions in the region were among its intended targets, according to reports.
The situation has led to significant disruption at one of Kuwait’s main international transport hubs, with authorities continuing to manage security risks while assessing when normal flight operations can resume.
