Saudi Arabia, OIC Denounce Israeli Escalation in Lebanon
According to reports, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement denouncing what it called “Israeli aggression against the territories of the brotherly Lebanese Republic,” while firmly rejecting any incursion into Lebanese territory.
The ministry urged the international community to take responsibility in halting the escalation and stopping military operations it said were aimed at expanding Israeli presence inside Lebanon.
It also stressed the importance of preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its population in line with international agreements.
According to reports, the statement reaffirmed support for the Taif Agreement as a framework to extend the authority of the Lebanese state over all its territory, alongside full implementation of government decisions to limit weapons to official state institutions.
The ministry added that such steps are essential to restoring stability and security in Lebanon and protecting its people.
