Bahrain Detains 41 Alleged IRGC-Linked Members

(MENAFN) Bahraini authorities have detained 41 individuals suspected of ties to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the kingdom's Interior Ministry announced Saturday, according to a state news agency.

The sweeping arrests followed intelligence reports and public prosecutor investigations into alleged acts of espionage and foreign interference on Bahraini soil. Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway, as security operations press ahead "against anyone proven to be involved in the activities of this organization or in acts that violate the law," authorities said.

The latest detentions are not an isolated development. Bahraini authorities had previously arrested separate individuals on similar grounds — suspected IRGC affiliations — amid a broader wave of regional instability that erupted following US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

A Region Jolted by Conflict and Fragile Diplomacy
Tehran responded to those strikes with retaliatory attacks against Israel and US allies across the Gulf, compounding the crisis by shutting down the Strait of Hormuz — a chokepoint through which a significant share of the world's energy supplies flows.

A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation took hold on April 8, though subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to yield a durable settlement. President Trump later extended the truce without a fixed expiration date, opening the door to a renewed diplomatic track — one that remains tenuous as regional tensions persist.
