Syrian President Begins Gulf Tour with Saudi Arabia Visit

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has arrived in Saudi Arabia, marking the start of a Gulf tour, according to state media reports.

He landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on an official visit, though no details were given about the duration of his stay.

During the visit, he is expected to hold talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as reported by official sources.

Earlier, the Syrian presidency announced that al-Sharaa would travel to Saudi Arabia as part of a wider regional tour, without disclosing further destinations or timing.

The agenda is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations and discussing issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Al-Sharaa came to power following a major political shift in Syria after opposition forces gained control of Damascus and other key cities, bringing an end to decades of Baath Party rule and the long-standing Assad family leadership.
