Saudi Minister Warns Iran

(MENAFN) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan declared early Thursday that Iran is making a serious misjudgment if it assumes that Gulf nations lack the capacity to counter its moves.

He emphasized that "Iranian attacks on Gulf countries will bring Tehran no gains and will instead deepen its isolation." According to Prince Faisal, trust between Gulf states and Iran has "collapsed due to what he described as repeated attacks on Gulf states and violations of the principles of good neighborliness."

Prince Faisal further accused Tehran of employing a strategy of coercion to achieve its goals, stating that it is "pursuing a policy of blackmail to achieve its objectives." He added that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are working in unison to respond to Iranian aggressions, noting that "Iran had targeted civilian sites in Gulf countries at the outset of the conflict."

Tensions across the Middle East have escalated sharply following a combined offensive by Israel and the US against Iran on Feb. 28, which has resulted in roughly 1,300 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran has launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military installations.
