UAE Intercepts Dozens of Missiles Amid Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) United Arab Emirates reported on Friday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles and tracked 112 drones, with the majority neutralized, according to reports.

“Air defense systems intercepted 109 of the drones, while three crashed inside the country,” a statement from the UAE Defense Ministry said on the social platform X.

Since the start of what officials described as blatant Iranian aggression, UAE air defenses have detected 205 ballistic missiles, destroying 190 of them. Thirteen fell into the sea, while two landed within the country.

The ministry also stated that 1,184 Iranian drones were detected, 1,110 of which were intercepted, and 74 crashed domestically. In addition, eight cruise missiles were tracked and destroyed.

The attacks reportedly caused three fatalities among Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationals, and left 112 people with minor injuries.

Authorities affirmed that the UAE remains on high alert, prepared to respond decisively to any threats, while protecting its sovereignty, national interests, and overall security.

Reports note that Iran has targeted Israel and several Gulf nations hosting US military bases in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military commanders.
